What Telegram for Mac does better than the web version
The macOS app is not a wrapper around Chromium - it is written in Swift and hooks straight into system APIs. That is why battery impact is low, native gestures feel snappy and integrations like Handoff or Focus filters work like other Apple apps.
- Swift-native app that respects macOS design language
- Touch Bar shortcuts on supported MacBooks
- iCloud tab restore between reboots
- Handoff-friendly - pick up conversations on your iPhone
Install the DMG in four short steps
Step 1
Open the DMG
Double-click the downloaded Telegram.dmg. macOS will verify the developer signature - keep the file if Gatekeeper recognises it.
Step 2
Drag to Applications
In the mounted disk image, drag the Telegram icon into the Applications shortcut. Eject the DMG once the copy finishes.
Step 3
Launch and log in
Open Telegram from Launchpad, enter your phone number and the verification code sent to your active session or SMS.
Step 4
Grant permissions
Approve notifications, microphone and camera access from System Settings > Privacy & Security so voice calls and video work out of the box.

Update and signature verification
